Radical Tenderness: Trans for Trans Portraiture: Artist and Curator Panel
About this Event
This program will feature artists Johanna Jackie Baier, Zackary Drucker, Texas Isaiah, and Del LaGrace Volcano. Guest curator Dr. Eliza Steinbock will moderate the discussion bringing in their interest in visual activism for those marginalized by social categories of race, gender and sexuality. The panel will be joined by the museum’s executive director, Victoria Munro, who will speak to Alice Austen’s (1866-1952) lesbian and gender non-conforming photographic practice with its signature irreverent composition and witty style.
Timed to coincide with the International Day of Transgender Visibility on March 31, Radical Tenderness: Trans for Trans Portraiture highlights photographic work from four trans and non-binary artists whose portrait photography exudes tender intimacy and calls for a radical shift in visibility politics. The exhibition aims to inspire visitors to consider the role of the photographic camera in practices of survival and care.
This program is intended for teen and adult audiences. Closed captioning will be available.
This program will be streamed live on Zoom and recorded. You must register with your email address in order to receive the link to participate, which will be sent to your email the day before the event. Register HERE
