Thomas Fucaloro The winner of a performance grant from the Staten Island Council of the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Thomas Fucaloro has been on six national slam teams. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the New School and is a co-founding editor of Great Weather for Media and NYSAI press. He is an adjunct professor at Wagner College and BMCC where he teaches world lit and advanced creative writing. Thomas has released 2 full lengths: It Starts From the Belly and Blooms and Inheriting Craziness is a Soft Halo of Light by Three Rooms Press. He also has 3 chapbooks: Mistakes Disguised as Stars (Tired Hearts Press), Depression Cupcakes (Yes, Poetry) and There is Always Tomorrow (Mad Gleam Press). His new Chapbook The Only Gardening I Do is When I Give Up by Finishing Line Press will be out in August.

M.A. Dennis, short for Many Attitudes of Dennis, is the author of Mistaken Identity Crisis (NYSAI Press). M. A.’s poetry has been described as “emotion-filled, energetic and forward-thinking.” Dennis uses creative expression to heal and to bring awareness to important societal issues.

Matt Figgz is a Staten based writer who has always loved fantasy much more than reality. No matter what crazy stuff he read about, the real world always seemed scarier. Writing is one of those pretty things that provides the courage to face it. His debut poetry book, Adolescence, explores the wounded child within all of us.

Ashley Owen is a Greenwich Village born and New Jersey bred resident of St. George who has been writing poetry since the age of 12 and performing poetry since age 17. She has a career as a social worker but has maintained her devotion to creative hobbies such as poetry, creative writing, and improv comedy in her spare time. You may have seen her previously perform at Stapleton Saturdays and at many open mics hosted by ETG Book Cafe. As a fellow woman, artist, and member of the LGBTQIA community, Ashley is honored to share her poetry here at the Alice Austen House!

Turnout NYC is creating equitable arts access across the five boroughs with a season of concerts, performances, workshops, and more.

The Design Trust for Public Space is collaborating with SITU, an architectural practice centered on social and creative impact, on a major citywide effort to connect artists to the potential of public space, through new partnerships and infrastructure.
