NYC AUDUBON MEMBERS-ONLY: BIRDING AND CYANOTYPES WORKSHOP AT ALICE AUSTEN HOUSE (11/18)

Join NYC Audubon and Alice Austen House for a special day of birding and printmaking! From 10:00 to 11:00 AM, explore the park surrounding the historical house and view birds migrating through the City this fall.

Then, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, join Alice Austen House staff for a cyanotype workshop.

Cyanotypes are a type of cameraless photography in which one can make prints with natural objects such as flowers, leaves, and more. Prints are done on paper that has been painted with a photosensitive solution of iron salts, creating a brilliant blue (or cyan) image.

Registration required. Must be a current NYC Audubon member to register. Limited to 25.

Note on Accessibility:

This park has a mix of paved and unpaved paths on fairly flat terrain. The Alice Austen House museum is wheelchair accessible and contains a restroom. There is a small gravel parking lot behind the museum, accessible from Hylan Boulevard. Street parking is generally available along Edgewater Street at the corner of the museum. Otherwise, the site is accessible by the S78 bus. For more information about the Alice Austen House and Park, you can visit the museum’s website as well as NYC Parks’ website.
